Erica turned with fear in her eyes and glanced at Karen.
“How do you know about her?” Erica asked sternly.
Karen found the strength to stand and she stepped to Erica’s side. “You do not have a daughter.”
The strange gunman laughed. He laughed so hard, it sent chills down their spines. It affected Kim too because she let a soft cry that reminded them she was still laying there and still bleeding.
“Oh I have a daughter alright…I know I do.” He finally responded. “Did you think I wouldn’t find out? All I had to do was track down the officer who was responsible for arresting me. Before I slit his throat he gave me all the files I needed. It was very nice of him to keep in contact with you. You know I think he might have had feelings for you. The results of your pregnancy test and copy of her birth certificate just tied together nicely.”
Karen threw her head into her hands and began to cry. She remembered letting the officer who saved her know how she and her baby were doing. Erica pulled her into her arms but kept her eyes on the man.
