“The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.”
~John Powell
I know sometimes we try so hard to not make mistakes, or is it just me? I know I’m a perfectionist at work, and anything I do. But I had to learn mistakes are things that need to happen, in order for us to understand and learn.
I’ve made a lot of mistakes and I’ve learned some tough lessons. Sometimes I’ve made the same mistakes more than I’d like to admit. But I’m grateful for every one of them. Each one has taught me a lesson and I’m better for it.
Now what’s up with those who make a mistake and can’t see the lesson in it? I know quite a few people who have made mistakes and won’t admit they made a mistake, and therefore haven’t learned a thing. They wonder why things keep happening to them, and I say because apparently you’re not learning the lesson.

I don't really like the word "mistake". I prefer to call it a "wrong decision" because a "mistake" is an option that was made by our own will. Personally, I don't feel as though making a mistake is a horrible thing. As people, we are going to make them. I have made PLENTY of wrong decisions over the last 32 years. However, I do not regret them because had I not made them, I would not have learned from them. Recently I made a serious decision that could have been life altering. I learned from it and was able to move on. Even though it was life altering, I do not regret it because as I stated earlier, I would not have learned from it. The difference now is that I know it was the wrong decision therefore, I will not be making it again. I became a stronger person because of it. Nobody is perfect, we are all human, and we all have made bad decisions at one time or another. As always, these are just my thoughts and comments.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts Sherry. Decision making is very important. The key is that we learn from the decisions we make, both the ones that turn out as we desire and those that don't.
Yes thanks for sharing. Yes, no one is perfect we all make mistakes or bad decisions. I've learned from many and will not change any of them.
Thanks for reading and commenting!
That's very true – I agree with Sherry. Mistake is almost like there was a right thing to do in the first place which you were aware of. All we can do is make decisions on the information that we have available, which may not always be easy. All the 'mistakes' or poor decisions I have made I have only gone on to grow stronger. I would hope people have the courage to make poor decisions and lear from them.

That's a great point. Nothing wrong with making mistakes or poor decisions. The key is that we learn from them. Thank you for reiterating that point.
