Morgan deeply exhaled as she entered her home and started stripping off her clothes from the door. What have I gotten myself into? She thought to herself. I need to get a grip. She knew better than to stay in that room when Regina left to open the door. It was one of Jae’s oldest make up moves, to show up “drunk” and unannounced. It was always reserved for the largest screw ups to generate the most passionate make ups.
Satisfied with her accomplishment, Jae finally released Regina who quickly rolled her body out of her reach. “I’m so sorry baby, I swear I’m sorry and I’ve changed” Jae immediately began pleading. “Just let me show you that I can be the woman you need and I promise you’ll spend the rest of your life as happy as you want to be.”
More than anything Regina wanted to believe what Jae told her, but she also couldn’t help the feeling that she should know better than this. She should know better than to trust her feelings with Jae. Come to think of it, maybe Jae should know better than to trust her feelings with Regina. “I forgive you Jae, but even if I took you back… I don’t think we will ever be the same.” Regina stared off into the darkness of her bedroom.
“Of course we can get back to being the same. This love is what we make it. You know, we can make it better than it was before. I love you. Just take me back.” Jae slid her body up the bed to match it with Regina’s. In the silence of the room, she could hear Regina’s breathing change and it sounded like a cry.
Regina was torn. Even though she missed Jae, the last couple of months with Morgan told her how she should feel and reminded her of the way she needed to be treated. She started to wipe her tears as they silently rolled down her cheeks. Everything in her loved Jae and she felt she owed herself one more chance to see things through. “Okay Jae, one more shot at this. After that, I can’t do this anymore. One slip, and we are finished.”
Jae grabbed Regina by her waist and tugged her body closely into hers. She started to kiss her all over in excitement and expressed a repetitive series of ‘Thank you.” Regina couldn’t manage anymore words and laid quietly lost in her thoughts.
I’m a changed woman. Jae thought to herself as she drifted into sleep with her arms wrapped tightly around Regina. I can do this… She is worth it… I can change.
Regina couldn’t settle her nerves. Once she was certain that Jae was sound asleep, she reached for her phone and started a text to Morgan: I’m sorry, but I took her back.
Faster than Regina anticipated, she received a return text: You’re making a mistake and this isn’t over.
