Morgan checked herself out in the rear view mirror for the third time before pulling up to Regina’s condo. She wanted to make sure she looked her best for the conversation she was going to attempt having. She needed for Regina to understand that she deserved better and that Morgan was the one who wanted to give it to her. As Morgan approached Regina’s door, she was more nervous than she had ever been. She gently knocked on the door and waited for what seemed like centuries for Regina to finally pull it open.
Regina was hesitant about this meeting with Morgan, but she wanted to tell her to her face, once and for all, that there would be no progression for the two of them. Regina felt she had made a horrible mess of the situation and wanted to do her best to sweep it under the rug. “Come in..” Regina said as she stepped to the side and opened the door wider. “I want to make this conversation as quick as possible.”
“Hello to you too” Morgan replied softly as she made her way into the living room.
“I’m sorry… I just need you to understand what we were doing was wrong. I can’t keep doing this to Jae.”
“Doing what to Jae? What she’s done to you for years? She doesn’t deserve you.”
“It’s over Morgan, but it was cool while it lasted.”
Morgan was now raising her voice. “Cool while it lasted? What the fcuk do you think this is? My feelings for you are real and you’re in denial if you say you don’t feel the same.”
Regina bit her lip in an attempt to suppress her thoughts and stick to her word. “It doesn’t matter how I feel about you. I made a commitment to Jae and that’s all there is to it. I asked you here tonight so we could be clear. I don’t want to do this anymore. Please, respect my decision.”
“Jae doesn’t care about you. She can’t change. She wont change and you’re a fool if you think she will!” Morgan regretted the words as soon as they left her lips, but she couldn’t help the feeling that Regina needed to know.
Regina was speechless. “You’ve been sleeping with her girlfriend. What makes you so much better?”
“Am I wrong? Yes, but it doesn’t change how I feel about you. Just hear me out. I mean, give it a try for a little while. You don’t have to make a decision right now. Just give me some more time to show you that with me is where you belong… just give me some time.”
Regina found herself once again stuck in her thoughts. Nonetheless, she slowly nodded her head and allowed Morgan to give her a soft kiss.
