Falling Out In Love: Chapter 27

Read Chapter 26

Erica looked at Kim and Karen and wished she could do more. They were both crying. They were both in pain. You have successfully let them both down, Erica thought to herself. Look at the situation you have gotten them into.

Erica stood and attempted to walk over to Karen. The danger in the room stopped her. Erica threw her hands in the air, to show she wasn’t armed or a threat. Who would be afraid of you, Erica thought again.

She walked slowly this time, keeping her hands in the air. When she made it to Karen’s side, she pulled her into her arms and held her close.

“I don’t know how I got you into this? I’m so sorry. I…I…” Erica began to ramble but Karen stopped her.

The second the strange man came bursting through the door behind Kim, Karen recognized him. She just knew her life was about to end when she saw the shotgun. Instead, he turned it to Kim and put a big whole right through her left side.

She screamed and fell to the floor. She pulled Her into her arms and screamed again.

The gun went off so loudly. Her ears were still ringing. It all happened so fast. There wasn’t enough time to act. How could you let this happen, she screamed to herself.

The air in the room was dead and everyone was frozen. There was blood everywhere now, that couldn’t have been a good sign. She squeezed Her tight and held Her so close, her tears mixed with the blood on their shirts.

“Baby?” Erica screamed from the bottom of the stairs. “Are you ok up there?”

When Karen didn’t answer and Erica still hadn’t found a good reason for the muddy footprints, she raced up the stairs.

Erica reached her room in no time and stopped at the edge of her bed. She found Karen just sitting up in the same spot she left her in. Her eyes were wide and glossy. She looked frightened.

“Baby? What’s wrong?” Erica asked, kneeling onto the bed to get closer to Karen. “I saw these footprints downstairs and…I was so worried. Silly huh?”

Karen just continued to stare and held her knees to her chest. It seemed like she was in shock. Just then, Erica realized Karen had not been staring at her when she ran in. She was already looking in that direction, behind her. Before Erica could turn around, she heard her room door slam.

Erica jumped off the bed as she spun around to face her door. Standing there, dripping wet, muddy boots and a gun in her hand, was Kim. She looked like she had been crying. There was mascara running down her face. Her usually straight, but naturally curly hair was wet and stringy.

“Kim!” Erica responded quickly. “What are you doing? Are you crazy?”

Kim didn’t respond. Her hands shook as she pointed the gun at Erica and the only sound she made was her heavy breathing.

Erica couldn’t get Kim’s last words out of her head before Karen ended the phone call. “I can’t live without you.” In their relationship, Kim was always so quiet and reserved. Now, it seemed like she was going to fight for Erica’s heart to the death.

Karen fell asleep curled up in a ball next to Erica, so Erica was taking the moment to just watch her in silence. She pulled a few strands of Karen’s hair back and stroked her cheek. Erica loved Karen so much, she was worth putting up with the drama from Kim.

Erica leaned down and kissed Karen on her forehead. Then she kissed her cheek and slid down to place a soft kiss on her lips. It was just enough to wake her slightly, before placing another deeper but just as soft kiss on her lips.

Karen let her hand travel around Erica’s neck and pulled her closer as she let her soft touch send chills down Erica’s spine. Erica slid her body down more, so that it matched Karen’s and let Karen’s legs get tangled up in hers.

Erica retracted her tongue from Karen’s mouth and slowly bit Karen’s bottom lip. She let her tongue trace her lips and then bit her bottom lip one more time before kissing her deeply again.

Karen pulled Erica until she was laying on top of her and spread her legs to welcome her. Without having to think about, Erica transitioned into a smooth rhythm as she slowly found herself grinding against Karen and kissing her hungrily.

The silence was interrupted by the rain pounding on the roof. Karen loved the rain, it drove Erica crazy and everything she did to her was always intensified. As Karen grabbed Erica’s shorts to start pulling them down, Erica grabbed her hand to stop her.

Kim walked out of her house with an unusual smile on her face. She had been miserable for the last four days. After having lunch with Erica-Rose she went to see a guy that would help her show Erica who she really belonged with.

Her plans changed a little when she was informed about the mandatory three day background check she had to go through first. Kim had not been to work all week. Instead, she waited patiently, moping around the house, waiting for her phone to ring.

This morning the guy called and told her that everything checked out and she could come pick up her purchase. As she pulled into the store’s parking lot, she glanced around the area. She didn’t want anyone to notice her. The transaction was smooth. Her merchandise went from his hands to her purse in one swift motion.

Kim stopped at the nearest Ralphs to grab a bottle of wine before heading to her final destination. It was Erica’s favorite, not too sweet but not too strong. She grabbed her phone just as she pulled up outside and dialed Erica’s number.

Erica hesistated before answering when she noticed Kim’s name flashing across her screen. Karen was in the shower, but she didn’t want Kim to upset the mood. Right before Kim hung up, Erica answered reluctantly.
